Jan Downing (Founder/Director) began her work with girls teaching musical theatre at The Girls' Middle School in Northern California. In 2005 she directed The Little Prince at the award-winning A Company of Girls in Portland, ME. She has worked professionally in all aspects of the entertainment industry. As a performer she appeared Off-Broadway at the Chelsea Theater Center (Westside Arts Theater), with The Light Opera of Manhattan and San Francisco's Lamplighters Music Theatre and on ABC-TV's All My Children. Her experience behind the camera includes heading the Commercial division as a talent agent at Stars, The Agency in San Francisco, casting for theatre, commercials and industrial films and scouting real people for many national television commercials. She trained with New York voice teacher Elizabeth Howell, Phalen Tassie at The San Francisco Conservatory of Music and is a proud graduate of the prestigious Los Angeles Civic Light Opera Musical Theatre Workshop. She has taught drama at Building Futures Now in East Palo Alto, musical theatre at Portola Elementary School in San Bruno, CA and singing at San Mateo Parks and Recreation. Jan continues to work as a private vocal, acting and audition coach.
